Main CNC machining processes

CNC itself can be applied to various manufacturing processes and machinery. In this article, we focus on machining operations that can be identified through chip generation. This means that these processes are essentially subtraction, and the equipment involved is usually referred to as a cutting machine. CNC machining can be defined as an automatic and digitally controlled machining process. The main processing techniques include:

Milling: The spindle rotates to remove material.

Turning: The cylindrical workpiece rotates while the spindle is fixed to remove material.

Drilling: Cut a hole on the workpiece.

Grinding: A rolling grinding wheel removes a small amount of material.

Sawing: Using a blade to cut material into parts.

Precision machining process

Filing: Remove a small amount of material, combined with grinding and sawing, mainly used for deburring.

Polishing and Brushing: Produce a smooth or glossy surface through a grinding process.
